Experience:

I graduated last year from Oberlin College in Ohio with an an Honors degree in Politics and a minor in History, and have since returned to Washington and begun the process of applying to law school.

I scored an 800 on the Reading section both times I took the SAT, and my best scores in Math and Writing were 750 and 720 respectively. One of the reasons I'm interested in helping tutor others is that I know that it works: my SAT score in the Math section improved by 70 points after private tutoring.

Additionally, I scored an 800 in the Literature and Biology-M SAT II Subject tests. I was also a full IB student at Inglemoor High School, receiving a 7 on the History exam, a 7 in Spanish and a 6 in English (7 is the highest score). While standardized testing is by no means the best measure of intelligence, I feel that this does show a strong record of academic performance.

I previously served as a Study Zone tutor during high school, working with some ESL students at improving their essay writing skills.

My goals as a tutor are to help students improve in their studies, get the grade or score they are looking for and hopefully teach them something valuable along the way. I think that with persistence anyone can improve, and I would be happy to help with that process.

I am willing to teach students of any and all experience levels (from grade school through college) and specialize in aiding the organization, construction and proofreading of essays.

Hobbies:

In my free time, I enjoy reading, good films and playing the drums. However, coming up with a good lesson plan or strategy for tackling a difficult subject can be almost as fun.
